Abilities

Ability represents general aptitudes which impact a broad range of skills and powers. It does not determine specifically how a character must act or what skills they must take, but it provides a a pathway of advancement in related traits, skills, and powers. Low ability indicates less potential, and may exclude the acquisition or effective use absent the understanding or insight which a higher level of ability grants. Abilities are rated on a scale (0-4) ranging from none to a complete insight into all related things.

Starting characters have four total levels of core ability they may choose. Each species has its own min. and max. values that must be observed, and a character can only ever have one Ascendant ability.

Ability List

Core: Core abilities are abilities generally available to all characters of all species - they comprise ability rooted in reality. This includes aptitude in kinetic, faith, magic, and psychic.


Faith

Faith

> [Core] The measure of aptitude to connect, share energy and reinforce connections with higher powers for a greater ideal. Harmony between the self and a greater ideal allows for insight to transcend mundane boundaries. This is best accomplished between similar and sympathetic essences. The key concepts are insight, connection, community, bonding, sharing and synergy (developed through a synergy pool).

Kinetic

> [Core] The measure of the aptitude to recognize & manipulate the physical world. The laws of observable existence govern the perceptions of those inclined towards physical aptitude – through manipulation of these, all desired things are possible. The key concepts are theory, science, movement, progress, and chi (developed through a chi pool).

Maith

Magic

> [Core] The measure of aptitude to perceive and alter the world through primal energy. Tapping the flow of cosmic energy is what allows for all things to transcend their normal existence. The key concepts are control, energy, power, transformation, and mana (developed through a mana pool).

Psychic

Psychic

> [Core] The measure of the aptitude to superimpose one view of reality over another. In order to experience the cosmos free from bias and misconception, psychic's break free of the notion that process, time, reality, and perception are linear and follow a strict model of causality. The key concepts are experience, sensation, idea, force of will, and cohesion (developed through a cohesion pool).

Radiance

> The ability to connect with and channel powers of the dream lands.

Rift

> The ability to connect with and channel powers of the void.
